As the Northern hemisphere spins toward the shortest day of the year, it's getting dark earlier and earlier. What comforts do you fall back on when the days are short and the nights are long?

I love this question because I was just thinking about how I absolutely LOVE this time of year. Late fall and early winter has always been my favorite and the most magical. I'm happy that my Birthday is on December 6th because it's in the middle of all the magic of this season.

I enjoy wearing warm sweaters and slipper socks, scarves, hats, mittens (just bought a new pair today)...there's just something so much fun about bundling up on a cold day.

Drinking hot cocoa and tea is also so nice on a chilly day. Hot cocoa is so nostalgic for me. I remember when I was little, we used to make hot cocoa with little chocolate chips in it and white hot chocolate. We'd go sledding at the park, then come home and drink cocoa. Oh how I miss those days. Oh, and eggnog is a favorite. This year, I can finally drink the real stuff since I'll be turning 21. haha

Then of course there's Christmas. My mom really takes Christmas decorating seriously. She doesn't go overboard on lights outside, but we have 5 trees in our house...oops make that 6. Two big trees (one in the family room, another in the living room), a medium sized tree in the upstairs hallway (which she decorated today!), my sister and I each have our own mini table-top tree in our rooms (mine is out and decorated, I couldn't help myself!), and a mini tree for the table by the front door in the living room. I was at Borders yesterday and they had all this cute stuff to decorate mini trees with. I bought some ornaments. They were really cheerful and colorful.

I hope I can get a nice mini tree skirt somewhere. Now I'm so excited for Christmas!
